I tried searching for the answer but came up short. I'm curious if a d36 style drop in like from lumensfactory will work as a drop in for Pentagon x3 or L3's? Maybe with a little work? Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

There is a thread that has addressed this issue:

To be honest I don't know if a Lumens Factory lamp assembly will work, but it's certainly possible. The only real way to find out is to actually buy one and see for yourself.

I wish I could give better news in that regard.

I was thinking about trying a Pila 500 lumen LA for the GL4. If it fits wit a little adjustment, man oh man what a monster the X3 will become!

Yeah huge bump from the past, but I'm pretty new and have a a pentagon x3 paperweight as well. Has anyone found an answer to the op's question? If Someone knows if a d36 can be machined down to 33mm -- if there's enough room-- I'd imagine that would work. Not sure on overall length of the module however. The pentagon x3's stock assembly is about 36mm tall not counting springs.

Technically a p60 "works" in the x3, but spacers would be needed and it's obviously not ideal. I too am hoping for something a little closer to plug and play.
