Will a SF KL3 work with a SF 3P?

How's the performance of the Surefire KL3 LED head on the older SF 3P?

Not very good. KL3 works well with 2 and 3 cell hosts. Or a Pila / Wolf Eyes rechargable cell.

I have used a KL3+6P+A19 with two AA's batteries inserted. Not as bright as 2 or 3 123's but could get you by in a pinch. Did not do a run test, doubtful it would run that long.

The KL3 has a buck converter in it. When the Vin falls below Vf of the luxeon, it will run in direct drive mode. This means that it will run in direct drive mode on just about anything less than 2X123.
