work for lighting a pipe? My pal still smokes and it is his b-day. Or does the flame not work like that.HELP!!!

A quick search on this forum would show that Windmills aren't too popular here. I have never been able to get one to work right. For that matter any high end lighter has been a frustration for me. I smoke a pipe and cigars, I use regular disposable lighters that I can pull the tops off and turn the flame waaaaaay up. You can also buy inexpensive jet flame lighters that work well for a pipe. In my experience they do everything better than a high end lighter, and you can replace them for about the same cost as the ultra pure fuel you need to refill a Windmill.

My 2 cents.

thanks...I did search and it seems some swear by them and others swear at them! lol...will the flame work on a pipe?

Yeah it will work great, a jet lighter does a better job in my opinion. I tell you another thing that works great on a pipe. You know those small jet flame things they for small soldering jobs? Works great, pretty cheap. If you are going to get him a gift, the Windmill would be a good one, it is impressive and well built. Also might check out the Bruton line, they make one with a LED light. There are two primary models in the Windmill handheld line, the Delta is higher in price and they make a cheaper version that is pretty reasonable. Lots of colors too. You will need to use a super refined fuel for these.

I have a windmill. It's junk. If you have any stores locally in your area with them, check them out yourself.

I tried a Vector Gear at a store here and it was a lot better than my windmill. Well built, lit every time, small, metal, but I've spent enough on fire starting things for a while.

Im happy with my Windmill JP2 lighter. Lights everytime, and has done for the 8 months ive owned it (20 a day habbit). It should work fine on pipes, the flame goes pretty much in whatever direction you point it at.
