I was thinking of purchasing this light; however, after researching some i see that it usually places last during comparison tests and a lot of people seem to be disappointed in the lights performance. I was looking at other lights that compare to the boxer but there is always a reason why they dont fit the ticket for me ... brightstar p1 (length), AE powerlight (length), polarian ($$$) microfire ($$$) ... so i figured the boxer would be my best bet?

I am looking for a durable light that isn't huge that i can throw in the car, use around the house, etc etc ... i dont want something big like the POD because one is on its way to my house already :twothumbs anyway, this will probably be my "bad ***" flashlight for a long time to come since most of these powerful lights are super expensive and im just a broke college student.... i dont want to buy a budget flashlight by any means, i will take one used as well. any suggestions?

I wasn't disappointed with the Boxer's performance and I own some pretty nifty HID's. Actually, there really isn't anything else quite like it other than the Microfire K2000R. Ounce for ounce it's probably one of the five brightest production flashlights available. It also uses standard 18650/168A batteries which is a nice plus. It's not perfect and the beam is fairly blueish but nothing else can compare to its form factor. Personally I don't think the Xenide 25W can be beat in the $400 range and I'd suffer the extra length for the trade of in quality and factory support. If having a short light is ultimately what's important to you, then nothing else will do besides that light. My opionion is that you'd be a little bit goofy if the light didn't impress you. There is something really neat about that much light emanating from something so small :)

Btw, I only recall one person recently having said that the light wasn't quite what he expected. Most of the reviews of the light were favorable.

One last note...It's probably a good idea to balance charge the cells individually at least every third time just to keep them in good condition vs. just charging through the carrier. Also purchase a set of protected AW cells in addition to what the light comes with.

Thanks for the info, i found a used boxer for sale right now for $275, thats what got me interested in the light. I would love a microfire, if i could have it my way i'd buy a microfire warrior 3,500 lumen and call it a day. unfortunately i dont have $500

Still researching some, i want to make sure i make the right decision

$275 is a good price if it's in nice condition. You might inquire about the run-time and battery charge history just so you'll know what to expect. They'll typically run about 55 minutes on perfect batteries.

I bought my WE Boxer 24W from http://www.pts-flashlights.com/ and i am sooooo glad i did that cause i was unlucky on 2 accounts, first of all i runned into a bad batch of WE cells, 4 out of 6 died withing a couple of months and then the ballast on the light went....
I sent it back to Mike @pts and he send me a band new light with even more cells at no cost to me, now that's what i call service with 100% customer satisfaction cause i ended up receiving the V2 light with a better reflector, faster start up time and reworked tailcap which finnaly included a lanyard hole.

On to the good parts :p At the time of purchase i was too having trouble deciding between the WE and the Microfire but the ability to use over the counter 18650 cells instead of a battery pack won me over in favour of the WE and i haven't regreted this.
The light throws like crazy and it's bright enough to warm your hands on a cold night :p
All in all more light than i'll ever need in an urban environment and then some !

Sorry to revive such an old thread but it didn't seem logical to start another new thread for a cheesy video review. I guess you could say that I fell in love with this light all over again after owning a Gen I Boxer when they were first released. This is a Gen III light which benefits from the Gen II's quicker starting time. It was mentioned in one thread that the start time was improved to "15 seconds" but if you watch my HID warm-up time videos I'll think you'll quickly realize that's not factual information. Not that anyone was trying to be deceitful but we often speak in general, off the wall phrases, and that's probably all the statement was. This also seems to throw better than my Gen I light, probably due to a slightly better reflector with better reflectance.
