First, thanks Catdaddy for a great deal on a great light. Second, sorry for the accusatory tone when I couldn't figure out that the battery goes in backwards to make the tailcap light up. Here is a blurry pic of the light. About 4.75 in. long and a lot wider than the lights that I'm used to.
Here's the textured reflector, lensed-end bulb as you can see.
Here is the tailcap, four white LEDs, some glow powder applied somewhere inside.
Now down to business. First, the 6T against my other EDC, the MM+WO with R2H, all beamshots from ~6 feet, exposure varies across pictures to prevent wash-out.
Now against 6D with a 5D xenon bulb.
Now against the king light, Magcharger with WA01160.
So, as you can see, it holds its own. Now for the wimpy tailcap, this is against a Dorcy AAA.
Yeah, that's right. The Dorcy shames that tailcap. I wish I new more about little LEDs, so I could identifiy them, but alas. . .
The pros? The light has a really nice weight to it.
It does get really hot after being on a while (handwarmer).
Runtime is around forty minutes (that's pretty impressive). You can use the tailcap as an impromtu nightlight.
The cons? The bulb is stated as >3600 deg. K, I am seriously skeptical of this claim.
The polycarbonate lens has already formed a little melted spot about the size of a pen tip. That is a serious bummer, oh well.
The lens, is ever-so-slightly convex, making the sidespill much brighter towards the edge, that's neat, I guess.
A good of artifacts from the textured reflector, but they are only visible when performing the flashaholic ritual of shining it against a white wall.
The tailcap requires a great deal of twisting to get it to turn on, that is a not-so-tactical feature. I don't know how nice the clicky is, but I'd like to know.
On recent night walks, carrying all the lights shown above, this was the one most heavily relied on. So, despite its drawbacks, it is a great little light. Now, if only we could make it brighter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
