I bought a Lumapower M1 earlier and have been pretty satisfied with it, my only complaint being that at times I need a floodier light.

That said, I need to keep a light in my car with me, since I am in construction and often find that I need to look up into attics and such.

My budget is around $100. My preliminary research has me looking at the following:
1. Fenix P3D
2. Amilite T5
3. Wolfeyes 6A or 9A

I definitely do not want something that will not be as bright as the M1, but I don't mind floodier. Is there a big difference between the Wolf Eyes 6 series and 9 series? Which one of the three would you recommend?

The Wolf-Eyes is the best buy, because you got many bulb and battery options easily available. If you get tired of the LED glow, just replace it with one of the excellent Lumens Factory lamp assemblies. Not to mention the Wolf-Eyes comes with a forward clicky.

I have used my Fenix P2DCE, Amilite T5 and Dereelight CL1H with SSC P4 lamp in similar situations. I would pick either the T5 or CL1H. The CL1H has high/low and can provide spot or flood, can run on one 18650 or two RCR123 cells. Neither of these two lights would be quite as bright as the M1 but very close for practical uses......

If you want something significantly brighter, than get the WE Raider with the LED tailcap, a pair of 18500 cells and a LF EO-9 lamp up front.....a very good all around light.

The Wolf Eyes 9AX Raider is the toughest and the most versatile - it works with 3 x CR123A primaries or 2 x 18500 Li-Ion rechargeables. With either of these battery set-ups you can use LED or incan in it, for example: (1) a Cree LED drop-in, giving 170 bulb lumens and 160 mins run-time, or (2) a Lumens Factory EO-9 incan LA, giving 380 lumens and 40 mins run-time.

I like what I see from Wolf Eyes, but I admit I am completely lost as to which one to get. I am a newb to all this, and Wolf Eyes has like 10 models between the 6 and 9 series.

Can someone please post a link to the Wolf Eyes light that meets the following criteria:
1. Most Lumens(Brightest Cree model)
2. Has high and low modes. ( May have more)
3. 2 cr123 body would be ideal, unless 3 cr123 is much brighter.

Thanks for your help.

See post #5 - we posted at the same time. To answer your questions:
1. If you want the most lumens, a Cree drop-in will NOT give you this. Incan will be up to 2x brighter.
2. WE are bringing out a 4-stage LED drop-in - see the PTS website.
3. With incan, a 3-cell light will be brighter. With a LED drop-in, they will be the same brightness.

WE Cree HO 3.7 - 13V lamp
2x RCR123 cells

Just out of curiosity have you tried the OP reflector on your M1?

Amilite T5, SSC led has great flood, throws quite a wall of light, high quality construction, lo/hi brightness (choice of 15 lumen/30 lumen low), only 1 battery to replace. my 0.02

I have to say, T5 is my favorite light, but......
Keep your M1, use a 18650 cell along with your two stage switch and get some of FASTCARs' diffuser flood material.

For around $10 (for flood diffuser) or so, you could have a light that does many things because FASTCARs' diffuser is removable.

So true.

People excited about these Cree Drop-ins really should see this shootout:

Is this brighter than the Raider 9AX that DM51 mentions? Can you please provide a link as to the best place to purchase the Defender.

Steve..I have tried the OP on the M1, it make a slight difference just nothing major. I am not going to replace the M1, I just need another torch, and was hoping for an improvement, or at least a different type of light.

PhaserBurn..Which Wolf Eyes do you have? Which one do you prefer/find most useful? Which one would you describe as the brightest?

It all depends on which type of lamp assembly/batteries do you put in the Wolf-Eyes. Generally speaking, 9V lights are brighter than the 6V models. Same for 12V, 13V... The Defender is a 3.7V-6V flashlight, so the Raider is brighter and more versatile. So is the M90 Rattlesnake. See these beamshots for a better idea: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=168865

A great place to buy Wolf-Eyes lights and accessories is from Pacific Tactical Solutions, link here:

Get the bulbs here:

Cheers.

you can also get stuff at lumensfactory from pts also....

So if I were to buy the raider from PTS, would I then have to buy a cree from lumensfactory? I appreciate that incans are brighter, but I would rather sacrifice some lumens for a longer runtime.

Secondly, does the Raider come with low/ high modes?

Lastly what is the difference between the 9AX and the 9DX?

Thanks for the link: outdoor

ok, lets go back to what kind of light you need.....

flood or spot
good run time or very bright
small (pocket size) or any size
what kind of distances are you talking about
do you want a warm light or cool light
indoors or outdoors

All of the above will play a role in your decision making process......

No, you buy the Cree module directly from PTS. Lumens Factory does not sell LEDs.

Secondly, does the Raider come with low/ high modes?

No, only high. But I believe Wolf-Eyes has multi-stages LED drop-ins

Lastly what is the difference between the 9AX and the 9DX?

They are the exact same flashlight. The 9A comes with a rechargeable kit (batteries + charger), the 9AX is the stock light. (3XCR123).
