We recently had to do a benifit rock and roll show at a small venue. Our sound equipment worked OK but a faulty circuit breaker blew out the bulb in our tungstand spot light and we had no bulb (Not Good). Thankfully, by accident my X990 was near by. I used it for 3 long sets of music and with 2 batteries it made it with out quitting. The darn musicians complained it was TOO bright (They get paid to be baked under bright lights- its there job). We obviously had no colored filters but the flood to spot focusing worked out real well. ABSOLUTELY no one in the show crew could believe a portable light could do as good as a kilowatt 5 foot long tripod mounted spot light but it did. The X990 seems to get whiter as I put more hours on the bulb too. From the crowd side(Me operating BEHIND the beam) the brilliance was just fine. You know the show must go on (On time, too) and this just saved the day. The audience also was kind of amazed something so portable kick such a****! Best money I ever spent on a flashlight! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

Thats great! I have been whanting to get a X990. I have been trying to hold out for a e-bay deal but it does not look like thats going to happen

Draco, we have talked before and all I can say is it is worth it. My neighbors shake ther heads when I use at night to unload car or take out the garbage, etc. The beam had a kind of yellowish shadow like others reported on CPF when is was new but needs breakin for a while. Get a new one from BrightGuy and you get a warranty. I got a lot of good deals from Greg. Some sites are cheaper on SureFire but Greg is good and low on UKE, StreamLight, and ARCO(X990)

I don't have one of those Thor jobbies yet but if I can get a cheapo D2S and ballast from the junk yard I might give that mod a crack. But the X990 is just so "Handy" Easy to use. Only one big negative: NOT WATERPROOF!
