for me road = even more speed than MTB = smaller beam
so no P7 (or MC-E) at all.
also, just calculating:
three hours runtime from 18650 = 733 mA per hour draw
... thats the current to run a single die at full power
so a single die will give a thighter beam and thus be better than P7 ...
and of course there is no chance a three hour regulated 18650 P7 light can put out 400 Lumen, it can not even reach 200 - just like an identical single emitter light cant do
get the other Xtar, the "Cree" + 18650 version, if You want a cheap but rugged single stage led light, or - better - a Jetbeam Jet III Ultra or another Jet III model (or any other 18650 single emitter light from one of the makers mentionned here)
PS: I use a Cree 18650 light and sometimes a Jet III (full output set on 1 A draw) for MTB nightriding. For me the output is enough ;)
