Ok guys, you know the drill by now. Here goes:

1xAA battery
As small as possible
Clicky switch
2 (or 3 modes at most) and easy UI
Pocket clip (either direction)
Good amount of flood, but not zebralight amounts of flood
100+ lumens
Regulated well
Can tail stand
No cheapo DX/KD stuff... good name brand with a warranty

This is for a gift for my uncle. He is a flashlight amatuer / casual user.

I have the LumaPower ConneXion in mind, but I'm still waiting for the V2 to come out. (any news on that?)

What price?

Also remember that 100+ lumen from a single AA is not that easy.

You can look at the Fenix L1T V2.0 or the Eagletac P10A.

Fenix LD10?

I just bought one and it will be an x mas gift for my brother. No clip on it so it doesn't fully fit your criteria, it also has 6 modes which also doesn't fit. I think it will be a hit. Reasonable price.

Nitecore D10 is actually one of the smallest 1xAA light around

130 lum.
2 stages + variable output
easy UI

+ piston drive is pretty exotic and makes a cool gift :grin2:

pocket clip sold separately

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys.

JetBeams - Nahhh.... too complex of a UI for this guy, plus I've had one go bad on me so it left a bad taste in my mouth for their quality.

D10 - No pocket clip (although everyone says one is coming soon for the past several months), plus, I'm thinking this guy might get a bit confused with the UI... I know, I know, but believe me, it could happen. I've EDC'ed a D10 for the past several months, I know how it works.

Olight - Too big and no pocket clip. Also, I don't like the double twist UI. Plus, too many modes.

Now.... that EagleTac P10A does look interesting. It does in fact meet all my requirements... however, it may be too throwy.... but, you can't have everything.

The only thing I'm worried about with it, is the quality. I've heard some shady stuff about EagleTac.

I have personally tested 2 EagleTacs and am playing with one of them right now. I have seen nothing to suggest anything but the highest of quality so far.

The Fenix L1t I just tested on 1 eneloop for a new friend hit a peak reading of 148 lumens and settled down to 140 on high. 33 on medium and 10 lumens on low.
I think some one else makes a clip that fits on this unit.

I can understand where you're coming from. The early over the top advertising from Eagletac combined with a few extremely blatant Eagletac fanboys on this forum who make it their duty to promote Eagletac above all others at any opportunity really puts me off and casts a negative light on their products imho.

On the other hand the professional type reviews I've seen so far were mostly pleased with the quality and performance of their lights. I don't own any Eagletacs although I've handled a few, so take my opinion for what you will. But my impression is that they generally make solid lights about on par with Fenix for quality but tuned for a bit more output(lumens, not necessarily throw) and simpler UI at the cost of runtime and flexibility by comparison. Not magical by any means but I can see where they have their appeal.

I dropped the bomb on the P10A EagleTac yesterday. I hope it's a good solid light. It really did have everything I was looking for... except I wish it was a bit more floody than it is, but at least it's not a throw monster.

In my opinion, an EDC is more practical with a floody light. Of course your mileage may vary.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help everyone! I knew I could count on CPF!
