Hi, back in 2009 you guys helped me picked my cheap flashlight at DX extreme. I am very happy with my choice...

my choice back then was the TrustFire TR-801 Cree Q5-WC
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13095http://www.dealextreme.com/accounts/invoice.dx

and the batteries were TrustFire Protected 18650 Lithium

I now need to get the same king of flashlight. one for my GF and a few for my friends.

I was recently told the new batteries are very tight in the flashlight and some modification may have to be done... that is a major no no for me.

now my question. do you still recommend this combination for a good and cheap flood ?
is there anything newer and better now ?

thanks for your again

It's not quite as cheap as the one you have, but this is a very nice and sturdy thrower(edit: not thrower, but flooder): UltraFire WF-502B with xpg-r5 sku.35076

I've used it for about a month and for iluminating things up to 50meters it's awesome!

Also, I would definately look to replace your cells with sku. 20392 ones, they have proven to be consistently much higher performance than the ones that you are currently using.

I'd take a look at the Uniquefire R5 light as well, just for that extra bit of output ;)

about the batteries guys ...? do I keep the same as before : http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5776

like I said in my post it seem they have changed the size of either the battery or the flashlight , but some have reported a tight fit.

what would be a good choice for a great protected 18650 ? is the same model still good . something better now ? will it fit your UltraFire WF-502B with xpg-r5 sku.35076 ?

thanks
stef

I've heard good things about sku 20392 that RedForest recommends and have some on the way to me right now. They might be an extra millimeter longer, but they will fit in the 502B no problem.

But I don't think you'll get any extra output out of the Uniquefire he mentions because I believe DX is using the same drop-ins (a 1 mode or a 5 mode) in all of their XP-G lights that take drop-ins.

I know you don't like modding, but with the 502B it will help if you stuff some foil in the head around the drop-in to help transfer heat from the drop-in to the head of the light (or use strips from a soda can like I did in my review but that's a little more work).

Hi again guys

so I ended up buying this one:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.35074

it`s great, :D

but I have a small complain...

the end switch rattles , and this is bugging me... something is loose inside and it makes that el cheapo noise when shaken just a bit...

do you know of an easy fit for this? I do not want to play with the rubber cap because I am afraid it won`t reassemble after...
if I could open it, I could put grease inside maybe.. ?

any idea?
TIA

The inside of the end switch should have two small indents in it, on opposite sides of the 'circle' of the battery contact.
Put something pointy into those (like pointy tweezers) and you can unscrew the switch and see what's going on inside.
