I'm in need of a headlamp for duty and had a settled on the H50. My NVGs, GPS, and Nitecore D20 all use AA's so it seems like a perfect fit. Then I spotted that they do not include a black "bracket" but only a GITD and a spare GITD. What gives? Did anyone ever get a plain black bracket? The last thing I need is a bright glowing bracket on my forehead when I'm lima oscar.

I love the new 0.5 lumen low level on the H60, but I have nothing else using the 18650 cell... I can do CR123's, but the H30 seems to have been plagued with problems from the start. Any work-around to the GITD? Paint it? :shakehead

If I were to paint it, I would probably paint it with a spray can of "liquid tape" which is made by the people that make plasti-dip. This liquid tape is a spray on rubber coating that is meant to be used as electrical tape. You can find it in the auto parts section of wal-mart.

I am currently using the stuff to waterproof some 3x18650 battery packs for a caving headlamp and am very impressed with the stuff. I am using the brush on can but a light coat using the spray can version might work better for you.

I have both the H50 and the H60 and will only use the H50 if I am somewhere remote and do not have access to reliable power to charge 18650's. The H60 is just plain awesome!

I acquired a H30 not too long ago and have burned through a few batteries with no issues at all. Might still be worth considering....

I have no idea if this would be worth a try on the GITD H50 bracket. Since it's silicone, it probably will not work.

I have dyed numerous plastic R/C car parts black by boiling them in Rit fabric dye. Some of the parts were fluorescent red or yellow and they came out black and it does not scratch off. Just don't let the part touch the bottom of the pot when you are boiling it.

I don't know how much the holders differ between the H50 and the H30, but the holder for H30 might fit the H50. If you send an email to Zebralight they can probably tell you. If they fit each other I'm sure they'll sell you a extra black holder.

Mark and Yucca - both great ideas. I think they are both worth a try!

Paul - the H30 and H60 are both wider in diameter so the H50 would be quite loose.

Grey - Honestly, I think I'm going to end up with both lights...

Thanks!
