As an LED junkie, forces compel me to go LED in places LED products really haven't gone before. About 18 months ago, I purchased a set of wireless AC adapters and remote controls, which allow you to turn any AC device on or off by RF. I am going to get a lamp and plant it up high in my room, and connect it to one of these devices. One remote will sit next to my bed, one will hang off the doorknob. I am debating which of the following to put in the lamp. I will be using the warmer tint version of either. The price is only eleven dollars apart, so that is not a factor.

Does anyone have direct experience with these? I could only find one post by one member who has actually used one of these "bulbs," and, unless I missed it, no direct comparisons between the two.

Zetalux 2 Pro

DesignoLux nX8

The specs seem to indicate that the Zeta is brighter, but has a much shorter lifespan and smaller operating temperature range.

The Design appears to be marginally dimmer, but with a much longer (rated) lifespan, and larger operating temperature range.

In reality, they both have a very long life, making their actual use by real humans my preferred yardstick by which to measure their performance, appearance, etc.

Thanks!

I have posted elsewhere I am very suspicious of the specs of the ZetaLux™ 2 Pro.
ZetaLux™ 2 standard - 6 watt - 300 Lumens Warm, 400 Lumens Cool
ZetaLux™ 2 pro - 7 watt - 450 Lumens Warm, 550 Lumens Cool
My simple calculation shows 300*7/6=350 lumens warm. 400*7/6=466 lumens cool. I am assuming the ZetaLux™ 2 standard numbers are correct, just scaling up.
While running more LEDs at lower current increases efficiency, going from 50 lumens per watt for the ZetaLux™ 2 standard Warm to 64 lumens per watt for the ZetaLux™ 2 pro Warm is asking a lot. Both bulbs are using CREE® MX-6 LEDs.
The ZetaLux™ 2 pro Cool works out to 550/7=78.5 lumens per watt. I suspect the manufacturer is using calculated LED lumens, not measured OTF lumens.

Edit jd_oc measured these bulbs at 80% of 60W incans. Looks like the ratings are not overstated. Must be under-driving an awful lot of LEDs.

The DesignoLux nX8 is 2 generations older than the ZetaLux™ 2 (DesignoLux nX8 > ZetaLux™ 7 > ZetaLux™ 2). It is $ 45.99 vs $ 24.99 for the ZetaLux™ 2 standard with essentially the same lumens spec. I'd pay $4 more and get 2 ZetaLux™ 2 standard bulbs (1 warm, 1 cool) so I can experiment.

No experience with any earthLED bulbs. Internatioal shipping + customs brokerage costs bring the costs up too much.

Hi LEDAdd1ct,

I just started a new thread where I reviewed the Zetalux 2 Pro bulbs. Let me know if you have any questions.
