Hello Robert,

Welcome to CPF.

We are still working on figuring out if the ZTS tester is accurate. We do know that it is consistent.

I don't know about loads Ansmann puts on the batteries. I emailed ZTS and they gave me the loads for the MiniMBT.

Li - 800mA
Nimh - 380mA
Alkaline - 150mA
9V - 40mA

Maybe Ansmann will tell you the loads of their tester.

I e-mailed Ansmann and they said that the load is 300mA for all chemistries

Ian :)

Wow! That means the ZTS and Ansmann will give you different results. For flashlight use the ZTS should definitely give closer capacity results.

I received a ZTS Mini-MBT along with a 15-pack of cr123a batteries. This is what I found... kind of disturbing if you've seen what mismatched cells do...

Battery Station box of 15 (website indicated ZTS tested before shipped)

1x cr123a at 20%
14x cr123 @ 100%

Battery Station (batteries from a taser I purchased x3)
(used once to check if taster worked)

1x cr123a at 20%
2x cr123a at 60%

Surefire Batteries (fresh!) All cr123a

7/10 tested @ 100%

1 tested 60%

2 tested 80%

Duracell - All cr123a

3x All 100%

I have seperated all of my 'defective' batteries for single cell lights only. I think people should really invest in a ZTS tester if it helps prevent accidents.
