Need Some Help Estimating Drive Current

I found an Electrolumens XM-2, a LUX III TWOK and a SO-20 in the back of the drawer.

Didn't take long to put it all together. The XM-2 is direct drive with an unknown value resistor. If I remember, it was supposed to run around 1 amp, but I think this varied a lot.

I'm wondering if anyone can estimate the current going to the LED. The only clue I have is the Amps measured at the tailcap.

With 2 fresh Battery Station 123's, it started at 1.6 amps and stabilized at 1.5 amps after about 3 minutes.

Any estimates on current and LED life with this setup is appreciated.

If the light has only a resistor to drop Voltage (an therefore current), then the tailcap currect is the LED current. At 1.5 Amps, the LED is being driven pretty hard.

For run-times, check SilverFox's battery tests for various currents.
