how hot?

Not an easy question. It depends on the size of the bulb and lamp chemistry. General rule is larger bulbs run cooler and smaller bulb surfaces are hotter. Many lamps used in mining application use large bulbs to keep the lamp surface cool.

Since I know a little about the Mag Charger .. I'll try and find out for you. It might take a few days.

- thermocouple attached to the top glass surface
- run vertical in open air @ 6.00 vdc
- warm-up time of 30 minutes

Results: Temperature of 592°F. Sample size of one.

This is the surface temperature of the bulb used in the Mag Charger. It should not be confused with how hot the exterior glass on the flashlight gets.
