Its just that lambertian luxeons have been so popular lately I am wondering where all the batwings went. I really liked the style of the beam when used with either a reflector or an optic and was always dissapointed at how there were only 1 watt models.

They are still avalible. SL Jr Luxeon uses them. I think another streamlight uses them.

Jr Lux uses the new part number LD. It's got a LD but with the EOS square phosphur of the HD. Beam color is even.

Lumileds never made anything BUT the Lux I in the low-dome style.

Yes, they are still available. I don't see them going away any time soon, since the Luxeon Flood and Rings are available with these (I think the floods are only available with low domes). Floods are used in traffic light applications, so there's plenty of demand for them.

i have some r3 ld with the new phosphor process that make real nice flood in my desklamp mod.
9 on a plate series-paralell from 12v.
the old style were blue/yellow but still decent with a diffuser.
they are out there but not as easy to get as lambertian.
