Ever wonder why LiPolymers need to be charged so carefully?

I don't know if this has already been posted anywhere but I didn't see it right away so I thought I'd post it here (it as been making the rounds around the net lately) - the video linked is a clip of someone overcharging a Lithium Polymer battery pack - maybe a nice demonstration to anybody doubting the value of protection circuits in LiIons

The video is for lithium polymer batteries. You might want to change your heading to "LiPo" instead of "LiIons."

For more LiPo charging fires, take a look at the Lipo Fire Videos (1, 2, 3) on www.utahflyers.org. LiPos are becoming more and more popular for RC aircraft - but they have very little protection (if any) built in.
