Hi,

I am a modeller and I am looking to find the smallest possible power source for a led light. Im not really clued up on electronics which is proving a bit of a problem in my search...

I have found a 3v lithium battery as a source and a low voltage led with a forward volt of 2.5, am I right in thinking this will work with a resistor of 18 Ohms?

Any help would be muchly appreciated :)

Cheers

Direct drive should work in this case, just keep in mind that smaller batts won't have much juice in them, and your setup won't be very bright (and will diminish with time).

Thanks for your reply,

Does direct drive mean that I wont need a resistor then?

The time isnt such an issue as I only need it for short bursts the real limiter is space.

You'll still need the resistor, direct drive means that there are no electronic circuits to provide regulation, or boost/reduce the voltage.
