Mod my VB-16

I have a VB-16 with a turbohead (from Waion) that doesn't work right. The tailcap is so bad that I can't get the light to stay on. I've tried putting conductive material on top of the retaining ring, tightening the retaining ring, and removing/replacing the retaining ring. When I push the switch, I'll get light, but it either turns off as soon as I let go or stays lit until I tap the tailcap.

So:

Who wants to mod my VB-16? Here is the list of things I want:
-Fix the darn tailswitch
-Replace the Lux with a high-bin XR-E
-Replace the reflector with an aspherical lens
-(Anything else?)

I'm willing to wait a month or two for the mod, and pay a reasonable amount. I can provide accurate measurements of the light (for the maximum lens size, etc.).

Is anyone up to the challenge?

Have you tried talking to Waion about the faulty tailswitch?

Yep. He has helped me troubleshoot it, but to no avail. I don't relish going through an RMA (or similar) process, so this seemed like a good opportunity to improve the light.

So, is anyone up to the challenge? :naughty:

sounds like a very doable plan. What are the dimensions of the reflector in the VB?

In the stock head:

16.5mm from top of LED potting to window
17.9mm wide at the window

In the turbohead:

28.5mm from top of LED potting to window
27.7mm wide at the window

The stock reflector is 21.9mm wide and 15.6mm tall.
The turbohead reflector is 31.5mm wide and 20.3mm tall.

Considering modfyg my VB also. Have an McR 20 in post. It is slightly smaller than the stock reflector....and has been used ( 4x7 post on 11/17/06) with XR-E.
Also got a 30 mm aspherical lens from Oaklandlens to putz with. Will advise
