Title sounds better than it probably is but I had a 5d bulb with a horrible filiment and a 2xAA glow in the dark Garrity slide switch light and three amondotech cr123's. The stock lens and reflector seem to be able to withstand the heat, though they do get very hot, there is no deformation.

2AA body $1
Bulb $ 3
3xcr123 $3

$7 for a super bright light. I put it in my GF car to replace her POS 2d that came with her emergency kit.

I love seeing cheapo lights turned into mods good on ya mate, nice work. I did the same thing with a Duracell 2AA light running the 5 cell numstar off 2 x 14500 LiIons and it deformed the reflector in a minute so I did the torture test and it melted out the switch internals in another minute.
3 x 123As wont be as bright and the torch should survive as a result
