Dammit, I should have entered raffles to buy L0-Ti from many dealers...

You should have bought it because?

Because, if x2>x1, then x2-x1 =cha ching!.

But, the bidder gromit 28287 looks very suspicious. Been a member on eBay for THREE YEARS, and ZERO feedback, yet repeatedly bidding up an expensive flashlight? I smell shill bidding. The technique of placing multiple bids repeatedly in small increments something shillders do, so they'll only surpass the current highest bidder by a small amount, so that person can become the winner again just by raising the bid amount a small amount.

I used to really want one of these titanium Fenix lights. But, after seeing all the unabashed profiteering by several who were fortunate enough to be able to buy one these lights at a normal price, I'm no longer interested. It's clear to me that more than a few folks bought these lights with the sole intent of making a few fast bucks off the backs of other CPF members with a quick resale. Some community $pirit huh?

Community spirit aside, people vote with their wallets all the time. Same happened when Arc went under - there were ArcAAA's going for many, many times their regular price. It's how a free market works.

If that's indeed improper bidding, it should be reported to eBay.

GreenLED, I'll bet you did not buy one of those price-hiked Arc AAA. And, I'm not buying an overpriced titanium Fenix either.

At first there was no number indicated anywhere on the light itself or on the papers that came with it!! Today I looked again and sure enough, my #9 is etched on the body says,"No. 009".

Don't forget though that people paid unspecified quantities, to enter the raffles.

If the market won't bear the price, it won't sell. Simple.

Forgive my eBay illiteracy but can someone explain to me if I'm seeing this correctly:
gromit28387( 0 ) US $170.00 Dec-26-06 15:04:45 PST
gromit28387( 0 ) US $160.00 Dec-26-06 15:03:50 PST
gromit28387( 0 ) US $150.00 Dec-26-06 15:03:22 PST
gromit28387( 0 ) US $145.00 Dec-26-06 15:03:04 PST
gromit28387( 0 ) US $135.00 Dec-26-06 15:02:42 PST
gromit28387( 0 ) US $125.00 Dec-25-06 19:28:04 PST

To me that looks like they were outbidding themselves ????? Up $35 in 2 minutes with no other bidders interspersed????

Another bidder had placed a higher bid before he started bidding it up. Looks like he was trying to just get higher than the sassy05 person's bid.

sassy-05 placed a proxy bid of up to $172.50 at 13:48 PST
sassy-05( 100) US $172.50 Dec-26-06 13:48:41 PST

Then, gromit28387 came along a couple of hours later and started the bidding you listed...
gromit28387( 0 ) US $135.00 Dec-26-06 15:02:42 PST

Then sassy05 saw this and increased their max bid a few hours after that at 18:16 PST
sassy-05( 100) US $172.50 Dec-26-06 18:16:51 PST

I guess I lucked out on mine. Bought mine on B/S/T for $135. Most of the light's were
$170-180 which was more than I wanted to pay but I do like the light alot. I guess
the thing that suprised me was if there were only 250 unit's made how did some folk's
seemingly get 4 or 5 light's to sell? I figured CPF folk would get 1/2 to 2/3 of the
light's availible maybe more. I guess we'll never know but if people can make a profit
you know they will try no matter who buy's the light's.

Of course they did, same as the dealers did. What's the problem?

If someone now wants to fork out $300 for a L0P Ti, that's their business. I was tempted at the original $100 price, but in the end, glad I did not get one.

Hmm.....$260! I'd definitely sell mine for that. The only reason I bought it, was because I invested $10 in the raffle! Like a uninformed doosh (not to be confused with 'douche'), I thought I was joining in a raffle to win the light, not a spot to buy it! I don't know if mine will ever get used. My thoughts were that I'd end up begging Millermods or somebody else to stuff a Cree in there, otherwise, it's just another handsome box on the shelf.

I don't recall any dealers price gouging the titanium L0Ps. Can you provide an example here?

I no longer want a Ti Fenix. I'll save my money for an upgraded LED in the standard body.

"price gouging?" I think that's a relative term. I mean, after all, it's not gasoline.

The point was that dealers can mark things up 300% or more and nobody thinks anything of it, but when somebody makes five bucks in B/S/T or on Ebay some folks go "oh me oh my whatever happened to CPF spirit/community/cult/bbq/flashlight of the month club.." or whatever and such.

Just strikes me as naive. I think the CPF spirit is the sharing of knowledge regarding flashlights and electronics. That's what this sight should be and IS about to me.

If somebody happens to make money on their L0P-Ti, I say good for them. If you don't like it, too bad I guess.
