Hey Pool Owners-

Do any of you out there have an automatic pool cover? If so, I be really interested in hearing about your experience with maker and installation!

We're moving into a new home with a uncovered pool, and I'm having nightmares about my youngsters around the pool already!

TIA

Hi Ron,

This is my specialty. I have owned an inground pool for seven years. There is a lot of discussion on this at the links below. I don't own an automatic cover and never will. IMHO they simply aren't worth their money. The motor cavity(where the motor sits) on many models tends to fill with water and then it doesn't work.

I would however suggest a Meyco or Loop-Lock brand safety cover (mesh or solid). I like the mesh so water can go right through. They are pretty easy to put on and take off and cannot be removed by youngsters without the supplied tool. They can support a lot of weight. I have well over a ton of snow on mine right now and have that every winter. They are safe enought to walk on. Will not blow off in the wind. And are very resistant to fading.

I have never had a automatic one, but we have also thought about getting one.

In any case the http://www.poolsolutions.com site is the best I have seen and would recommend subscribing. Ben (the site owner) can be a bit slow at times because he is a workaholic and says yes to everyone. But the site has so much good info on just about every topic.
