L1/2D and P2/3D are all the same.

The L1/L2 and P2D-Ce use the same head. The P3D-CE has a buck circuit in the head instead of a boost circuit.

The P2D-CE body should work on a L1/2D-CE head. It probably won't work on a P3D-CE head. If it does the LED will be dim.

No probs if its dimmer than the p2d as standard, i currently edc the p1 which is about 55 lumens, will a p2d body on p3d head deliver this???

also as seen it is available somewhere- is it available from anyone with a good online service/reputation??

On anything higher than the first 2 levels the P3D will flicker on the L2D body even with lithium AA.

Any update on the availability of the P2D body and tailcaps?

I am hoping to buy a new light, and want the Cree version of the L2T/cr123 combo, so I settled on the following:

L2D CE
P2D body
P2D tailcap

....but the P2D body and tailcap still seem unavailable...

can you confirm if this will work with the p3 head, I know the web site says

ONLY compatible with the L1D CE, L2D CE and P2D.

will there be....

• no output,
• reduced output
• flickering cos its thinks its low battery

No, the P1 Holster is a bit short. The P2D holster is just a tad bit longer.
Sorry I don't have any yet in stock.

From memory, I don't think so. The P2D and P3D's have different
tailcaps. Threads match, but the 123 lights have a slightly larger dia.

It may work, but it's not compatible.
The L1D, L2D, P2D share the same head so they are identical exact
replacements

The P3D head was never designed for a single cell with the P2D body.
So it's up to what hobbyist to explore. No guarantees.

But from I'd experienced, they work fine together. I used AW 123's
and get a good amount of max output, when low battery indication comes
on, I just bump it down to high output and it's steady. As to when the
battery indication comes it, it's a factor of:

1) Vf of the XRE
2) The drive current (which affects the Vf)
3) Internal resistance of your li-ion cell

So ymmv, but for me it's worth it since you get all the levels with
a li-ion cell.
