Hmmm, looks like Lumileds is taking a step forward in offering some form of quality control.

They're not actually offering binning choices though, they're just offering a line of Luxeons that meet a certain minimum criteria, e.g. whites have >X lumens output. Wonder how much extra it'll cost...

A part number search at the Future site yields some insight into what they plan to offer. Depending upon part no, it appears that ordering options vary from no choice [as before] to quite a bit of binning. In some cases you can chose flux, Vf, or color, but no choice of two or more.

Most of these you can figure out but I have no idea what the -NOD one is. Notable is the offer of the "G" Vf [I presume] which is the 2.79-3.03V bin. This would help accommodate those manufacturers of the direct drive 2 cell lights.
