I wonder who will be the first to produce the first gasoline powered flashlight using 10 5 watt Luxeon leds and optics to concentrate the light to a strong ultrabright spot. You can use the small portable coleman generators that can be carried (they use a small cc motor 2 cycle) and build it into a nice spotlight.

Since that will cost about $500 to the customer, without the generator price, I do not expect to see one soon. We are kicking around some 12V supplied solutions, but even we aren't considering the extravagance of 10 Luxeon 5V LEDs. We have some much cheaper and environmentally friendly solutions that do not require a 2-cycle motor stinking up the place.

Forget the generator. Get yourself a methane powered fuel cell, like the ones Toshiba is looking at to power their laptops.
