The Ikelite PCa flashlight with a 7.2 V 1.0 A bulb running 6 AA cells is the brightest small non-rechargeable 6AA OEM flashlight I know of. See link:

I'm pretty sure it comes with a PR base bulb like Ikelite's C cell lights. Imagine running it on NiMH's with a Carley #928 Halogen 7.1 V 1.20 A 8.5 W bulb rated at 16 CP = 198 L in a Carley #912 PR Base.
I sampled a PCa in is a Dive Shop awhile ago and found the hot spot to be rather tight, but not as tight as the Streamlight 3C.
