Do you use a notebook computer stand?

I was thinking of trying to set my sister up for something to use her computer with at home.

First idea was this from Logitech

It's considerably cheaper then the list price at Costco, I think $50 but still I'd have to get a cordless mouse in which they also sell a nice little cordless notebook mouse at Costco for $20.

Or maybe go with something KISS such as this simple stand

and then getting a cordless keyboard/mouse combo.

I've never owned a notebook so maybe some notebook saavy people have some experience in this. I would like something that doesn't take up too much additional space I think.

I always found them pretty useless.
If your sister uses the computer for short enough stretches of time, then the sucky onboard keyboard in its flat unergonomic position will do.
If she uses it a lot then a proper ergonomic full-size USB keyboard (and a full-size screen if at all possible) will be a much better buy than a stand.

I speak of experience, by the way. I spent long hours on my notebook using solely its onboard keyboard, then I got tired of sore wrists, got one of those split natural keyboard-like 'boards and now my wrists suffer much less.

I use this type I got for about $10:

It raises the screen to eyes' level and improves ventilation. The fan comes on less frequently and for shorter periods.
