According to the anodizer, the sealing process is a little different of HAIII.
The color will change if some kind of oil touch the HAIII surface. It fill the micro-hole of surface.
But not permanent, after oil removed, it will return to natural color.
It does not affect the hardness of HAIII, but color.

For #1, you wouldn't happen to know the runtimes for the 4AA vs. 1D Li-Ion would you? I'm not sure where I would even get a 1D Li-Ion, so I'm curious about the 4AA configuration.

Thanks.

Re: FS: a few HAIII Cree-sss light.

For 4AA Ni-MH, it draw 2.4A from battery end, it won't last an hour because the high current draw at High setting.
This Mag1D ship with Li-ion 1D 5000mA, because of lower current draw 1.2A , it will last for 3-4 hrs.
Sure you can lower the brightness to Mid or Low to extend the runtime.

Re: FS: a few HAIII Cree-sss light.

What's the chance of buying the 2C minus the 4C extension? Also, is the output the same with just using the 2C body w/o the 4C extension? I'm assuming the 4C extension is just for extended runtime? Also, I forgot to ask... who made these lights (both the builds and anodizing)?

Thanks.

Maybe I missed something, but there are 4 lights in the picture, but only descriptions for 3 lights. What is the light to the far right? I am interested in this one. You can send me a PM or reply here.

Thanks.

Re: FS: a few HAIII Cree-sss light.

We seem to like the same things alot! The only thing that worries me about the 5 CREE is the 1D Li-Ion and how I'm going to charge it. In case anyone was wondering, download is including a 1D Li-Ion (unprotected). I'm still undecided on the light. Looks sweet though!!

pcmike, the output will drop if use 2x 18650 only, max 0.7A output to 6x cree. That is the max. MaxFlex can handle comfortably. Compare 4x 18650, max 1.2-1.4A. You will see the different between brightness & runtime. Machine & anodizing by local professional shop, assemble by me.

Gary123, 5xCree is my work light for ref. only. But SS bezel & tailcap is available, $60 ship both. Warning: SS is heavy.

Thanks all kind words!
Enjoy your mod!

mcmc, no problem bro. Enjoy the light.

I guess I'm going to really have to pony up for one of MAC's "Sceptre's" or MINI-HID.:naughty:
