I just got my KX2 to put on my headless E2e. I wasn't expecting blindingly bright light. I just wanted someone to put on my E2e that was more efficient than the stock incan bulb.

I got exactly what I wanted with the KX2. A fairly bright light with good run time.

I must say the beam is a bit tighter than I imagined, but still very usable.

I know the L1 is brighter on high, but is beam pattern similar?

Boy, my two are just the opposite. My KX2 beam is nicer than my L1. And although your pix dont seem to show it my L1 definitely has a larger hot spot.

I just got a KX2 today. The beam looks just about the same as nanotech17's E2L. It's rather green, too. Perhaps a bit too green for my liking, and I usually like them towards the warm side.

Looking down the business end, the window and optic appear very clear. If there is any factory installed diffusion film, I can't find it. I'd probably be happier with the beam if they had put on a light diffusion film, as some people have seen on certain models of the L1-Cree.
