What\'s a Surefire 12PM ?

Hi, Brock's Web page discusses a Surefire 12PM but all I see is the M6 in the catalog from the top of Brock's list. The 4-cell Surefires are now the M4. What am I missing here.

Thanks, Brock, for the measurements!

Cheers,

Richard

A 12 PM is a four cell body with a Turbohead.

I have a "synthetic" 12PM made from a 9P extended with an A19 adapter and topped off with a vintage 3" reflector apparently designed for the 3 cell flashlights. I think the formal discontinued 12PM model came with a 2 1/2" reflector.

The 12 PM is the old version of the M4. M4 is the "M" version with Shock Isolated Head, LOTC, & HA III finish. TX

You're at least as likely to be right as I am on the size of the 12PM reflector. I read a number of posts on the SF board and here on CPF and was under the impression that some people's 12PM's came with 3" reflectors.

Since mine is an ersatz 12PM, I don't know for sure.

Yes the 12PM is the older version of the M4. It came with a 2.5" turbo head and the N62 500 lumen lamp. The M4 comes with the MN60, 60 min, 225 lumen lamp and the MN61, 325 lumen, 20 min lamp. You can still use the N62 500 lumen lamp from the 12PM in it, but it has a runtime of about 12 min that way

Re: What\'s a Surefire 12PM ?

Seems that some of the earlier M4s shipped with 2 MN61s rather than 1 of each - mine is one of them. It had a sheet included explaining that due to manufacturing shortage or something, the MN60 wasn't available, so 2 MN61s were included.

Not that I'm complaining - just love that MN61 (which is supposed to be 350 lumen isn't it? Not 325..)

So if the 12PM came with the 2 1/2" T-head (which mine has), when did the 3" head come in & on what light?? TX

txwest I think the 3 inch turbo head was a seperate item you had to order, I don't think it came standard on any light. Al do you know the history on that?

Graham I also thought the MN61 was 350 and the MN60 was 250, but in the new SF catalog they are rating them at 325 and 225

But as you said the MN61 is very nice. I use it in my 12PM rather then the N62. It tends to hold the whiteness much longer, and is ver close in brightness to the M6, but only for 10 min or so

Re: What\'s a Surefire 12PM ?

The SureFire NightHunter 12PM & 12ZM Tactical Entry Light are the discontinued Classic versions of the current M4 Devastator.

The 12PM & 12ZM came in Black anodised finish with a non-LOTC TailCap. The 12ZM came with a TailCap Lanyard kit. The 12PM/ZM came with a 2.5" Diameter, Lexan Lensed TurboHead with the ability to screw a BeamFilter in the inside of the Bezel rim.
The 12PM/ZM came with the N62 500Lu/12min Lamp Assembly.

AFAIK, the 12PM has always been in the configoration outlined above. It may have had what we call the SRTH, that is the 2.5" diameter TurboHead that doesn't have the rim for screwing in a BeamFilter.

Many 12PM owners have upgraded to a 3" diameter Extended Range TurboHead to take advantage of the tighter beam it produces.
Many have also converted to the Z41 LOTC, and run the MN60 or MN61 Lamps that offer better runtimes. I have also added a Bezel Lanyard Kit.
