Hi,

I'm VERY tempted by the Streamlight Sidewinder.

Can anyone tell me if the low levels use PWM? If so, how high freq are they? I am very sensistive to PWM.

Also, how hard would it be to swap out the 5mm red LED with a better quality one?

Thanks!

Try asking Streamlight about the PWM issue - I have ask them some questions in the past and they were good about basic questions - there are some pictures in another thread that show the inside and might give you help on how hard to change the LED. Not sure if the Sales or the Repair folks would be the best.

Wow! Prompt reply from Streamlight:

"Hi Lt.,
I have checked with our electrical engineers and the SideWinder used both PWM and PFM and the Survivor LED uses the PWM. The Pulse Width Modulation and the Pulse Fixed Modulation is something they are familiar with and I was not.

Please let me know of anything else.

Maybe someone can comment on how noticible it is with these lights.

That's odd. I just asked a guy on another forum do a long exposure picture of the Sidewinder main beam (moving) on low, and there was no PWM to be seen.
