led upgrade for WF-602A?

I really like this AA flashlight. It has a 1W luxeon, but I'd like to upgrade it, preferably with a cree led.

(but the cree domes are probably too wide :thinking:.)

Any suggestions on superbright 1W leds? Or can I use 3W leds with a good result?

Would a Edison Opto KLC8 3W fit?

The Edison is pretty much a direct swap for the Luxeon. But it does leave a yellow ring around the hotspot. The Seoul will also be a good swap. You'll have to make sure the base is electrically isolated but no thermally isolated from the heatsink though.

I went with a seul z-power. Just a direct swap.
It's much brighter now. :party:

How did you get the stuff so quickly, or did you already have the parts with you?

The "Watt" don't really mean anything, the LEDs can be driven at pretty much any level if you have the right amount of heatsinking.
