I'm on the hunt for a new car light. Just wanted to see what everyone else had in there vehicles. I've recently sold all of my CR123 lights and am looking for something in AA.

Still deciding, but it'll be one of the following:

2AA MagLED with SSC P4 (if I don't blow it up modding it)
2AA Minimag with Nite ize 1 watt LED and an IQ switch
2AA Rayovac Sportsman Xtreme 1 watt

I had a Novatac 85T mounted on Quickfist mini mounts for awhile, but just sold it. I thought I would put my new EX10 in its place, but it is too small to fit into the Quickfist mounts, so I am now justified in looking for a slightly fatter light to buy!

Ever since someone broke into my car and stole my LionHeart & Surefire U2, I only keep a G2 with a cheap LED drop-in. No point in putting an expensive light in the car if it's only going to be used as a last resort. I always have other lights on me, too.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but the light I keep in my car's glove box is a 2xAA River Rock (the one with a 5mm LED and an aspheric lens). The beam is a sharply defined hot spot with no spill :duh2:. I think it may be time to upgrade.

My car's been stolen once and broken into twice in the last 3 years, so I won't leave any really valuable things in it. The light is a Streamlight ProPoly 4AA with a SSC-P4 mod. But what's not to like....inexpensive, common AA cells, durable plastic, water resistant, approvals, simple rear clicky, and with the mod, very bright.

I carry a 5 C Cell mag in each vehicle, makes a good light and baton, and an Inova X0 or X03 (Tiros versions) also.

Daily Driver:
  • Driver's glovebox: SSC P7 (18650)***
  • Passenger glovebox: 128-LED showerhead (3SubC)***
  • Cigarette lighter socket: Dashlight (of course!)***
  • Boot: Eveready Dolphin Rechargeable***
  • Boot: Eveready Big Jim (4546 bulb)
  • Boot: Energizer Hardcase 4D***
2nd Car:
  • Driver's Door: Ultrafire C2 (cree Q5)***
  • Glovebox: 3C Luxeon***
  • Boot: Eveready Dolphin Mk5 (upgraded to Rechargeable spec)***
  • Boot: Eveready Dolphin Mk2 (SPKR823)
  • Boot: Eveready Big Jim (4547 bulb)
(*** denotes some sort of rechargeable battery)

As you can see, I see the car as a place for real, full-size torches.

Miniature 1AA and CR123 torches we carry in our pockets are an entirely different world.
