I have noticed some of the emergency vehicles in this area have started using LED emergency/warning lights. What kind of LEDs are they using? They seem pretty bright even in daylight. They seem to be switching from the strobe to LED. Our department doesn't have any yet.

Most of them just use bright LED's in large numbers. A company called 911EP uses the Luxeon Star to make some pretty cool lights. Go to www.911ep.com to check them out. I have one of their 3 LED red flashers on the back of my motorcycle to augment the brakelight, it really gets their attn!
