best led/optics for micro thrower

i want to build a light for my bow LINK
i first thought P7+aspheric lens but then i have the big X problem because of the 4 emitters.

what is the brightest SINGLE chip led?
how do i get the tightest spot with next to no spill from a max. 40mm head?
could i make this from a cheap DX light?

I think brightest single die emitter is the Osram Diamond Dragon, but i haven't found a good source yet :shrug:

You mention throw in the title and there's more to throw than having the brightest led.

For throw, a lot of folks (including myself) like the combination of a single XR-E behind an aspheric lens. If that's not bright enough, try a couple of them, each with their own lens. Packhorse did this well with cheap DX lenses.
