Surefire E2DL Question

I was just checking my E2DL and I noticed some rings around the hots pot on high. You can see smaller rings of lower intensity surrounding the hot spot. On low there is a nice round pattern hotspot with no rings. This is a bit strange to me. Is there something wrong with the LED module?

Heres a bad photo but you can see the slightly lower intensity ring.

Mine has rings, both high and low. That's to be expected from TIR optics.

Any smooth reflector has em.

Mine has about 5 or more evenly spaced, smooth rings in the spill.

However, unless I'm looking for them I never notice.

My E2DL's beam was slightly off center so I boiled the head and scratched the hell out of it

green

opening it and recentering the optic. Beam is better, but not perfect. My E1B's beam is perfect with no visible rings at all.
