For those of you wanting diffusers for your flashlights, I discovered a treasure trove of them today.
I went in to our local industrial hose supplier for some heavy duty radiator hose and while waiting, noticed a box on the floor with hundreds of little plastic hose caps in it. There were every conceivable size from 1/4" to 3" in white, red, blue, green etc.
They are the caps on the big rolls of hose that protect it from getting dirt in it while being shipped. They are very slightly tapered, which makes them great for fitting on to flashlights. Most were labeled "caplugs" which I gather is the manufacturer.
They make perfect diffusers, the thick ones let very little light out, the thinner ones let more out.
If you can find a hose supplier that saves them, you can pick and choose the size, colour, thickness etc. that best suits you. Best of all it will probably be free.
