well, Let me try to guess.
KL1 driver may draw 400 to 500 mAh. The AA batteries will only be able to give about 2100/2 = 1050 mAh.
Calculation wise, it is about 2 to 2.5 hours of runtime.

KL1 runs alot better on 3 cells than 2 cells. I think my (2) 1850mah AAs lasted less than 2 hrs.

People have also noted that the KL1 won't acheive full brightness on a pair of NiMH's. Something in the neighborhood of 2.5 V to 2.6 V is needed.

check out my

page, ceter tab, the KL1 on 2 1400's ran about 1:20 and on 2 1800's it ran about 1:45, so I would guess a true 2100 should be right about 2 hours.

I have to say this is the way to run the KL1, I have been using it with a 2 AA holder and it is very nice!

Resurrecting an old thread, but......Brock, that is an AWESOME chart! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

I was wondering whether I should even bother with NiMH for my KL1, until I saw your chart and I am impressed indeed. I'm planning to use 2 x 2/3AF GP 1100mAH high rate cells, in a "high rate" KL1 (modded to 500mA). I won't get that kind of runtime you posted, but it should be more than enough for my needs.
