The excellent, remarkably inexpensive ($13.00) little Dorcy Spyder has a "reverse clickie" tail switch. That is, it illuminates upon release of the "click". It is incapable of quick stabs of light and its recessed clickie makes it unusable in "combat hold", where the light is held between the 3rd and 4th fingers and actuation is achieved through palm pressure. SureFire's "combat lights" such as the M2 and C2 achieve this through rubberized protrusions which provide non-slip finger grips on their metal bodies. The Spyder's rubberized body provides more than adequate "grippiness" making such additions unnecessary. The "conversion" procedure is quick and intuitive:

1) Turn tailcap until snug against body
2) Click on
3) Counter rotate tailcap until light goes out.
4) Spyder may now be used very easily in momentary mode through thumb pressure, or in traditional overhand grip, or in "combat grip.
5) When in overhand grip steady on is achievable through rotation between thumb and first finger, though true tactical lights were not designed for constant on. However since clickies are becoming more popular perhaps the design intent is evolving.

I prefer this alternate arrangement to traditional use of the clickie, though I realize that this personal preference is shared by very few Flashaholics.
