Would it be bad to epoxy a NX-05 optic to a luxeon? (On the outside of course) I cant find a better way to secure them together...

I often wondered the same thing. The main downside I can think of, other than loss of flexibility,is that repair of solder connections could be awkward. I doubt if there is any significant cooling off of the top.

i did it here, but the beam was sort of funkey.

the best way to do it is to use an ls/o, or use a copper pipe of appropriate diameter. the reason i did not do it in this case, was because i wanted to use a reflector in conjunction with the optic.

The best way to fixate an NX05 is either with the star-optics setup itself, or a holder of some sort, to keep the NX05 secure... You don't really want to epoxy the collimator directly to the LS itself, nor do you want to epoxy it to the lens or the sides of the flaslight body, per se, unless you feel comfortable with the connection strength of the soldered wires and with that light staying in that configuration for a long time...
