both offer about 700 lumens, LP uses Q5, malkoff uses xp-g.

both use 2 x 18650

is malkoff under driving, and LP over driving the leds?

i own the MVP

what could be expected if i did a straight swap,

(reflectors adjusted)

the Q5s for xp gs ?

xp-gs are more efficient right.... more light?

thoughts ?

Malkoff wildcat (MD4/MD3) XP-G version produces around 750 lumens out the front measured in a lumen sphere. Probably over 1000 bulb lumens.

It's not easy to replace LEDs if they've been reflow soldered to a PCB. And replacing XR-E for XP-G would be even harder due to different focusing distances. Not worth trying IMO. If you do manage to do it (assuming constant current electronics) expect brighter output but less throw and slightly longer runtime due to lower Vf
