I have been looking around at reviews and advertisements of the Led Lenser M7R.

At some websites the battery configuration is advertised as 4 x AAA Lithium Ion rechargeables as below.

Yet on the home website for Led Lenser and others it states a single 18650 Lithium Ion rechargeable as below.

I am not trying to advertise anything here, I am just trying to clear up some confusion. I have a Led Lenser M1 and a P14 already but am now looking at this torch because of the handy recharging facility. No unscrewing the tailcap sounds good to me.

I like this because I have already posted a thread on CPF about the screw thread on my Olight M30 Triton wearing completely out in under 11 months of use as linked below.

I aslo take it that if it does have an 18650 battery that it can be swapped over to another one that is ready to go or if the supplied battery gets old and needs replacing. I would hope it can be accessed easily.

I am not sure whether the tailcap is removable as yet as I have not seen any reviews showing the tailcap removed.

What is the real truth here about the battery configuration?

All descriptions I have seen so far states 18650 battery.
And the battery is out of the light in many pictures, so I would say the tailcap can be opened.

I have just watched a YouTube video of the Led Lenser M7R in action.

Link is below -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBb1WcVGw6Q

The video shows the folllowing -

It has an 18650 2200mah Lion installed.

The tailcap does come off to access the battery.

It is also rechargeable via a USB plug as well as the mains power adaptor. The mains adaptor has a USB output plug.

Therefore this torch can be charged from a USB socket on a PC (pretty cool and up to date thinking IMHO).

The charging adaptor attaches to the tailcap magnetically and looks extremely easy to do and also has a mount that can be used to charge the torch as well.

I do not know why the M7R torches are advertised as 4 x AAA Lion on some sites.

I don't know if there ever was an earlier production model with AAAs installed and then was upgraded or whether this AAA thing is just a mistake on some websites.

I will really have to check the battery configuration before I buy this torch. One 18650 is much more convenient to change.

But I am a liitle bit happier now that I have seen the M7R in action.

A US website seems to have the right information advertised below.

I think the confusion is between the MT7 that comes with AAA Lions and the M7R that uses the 18650 Lion.

That is I hope the 18650 version is the one available here in Australia. :grin2:
