Title says it all. As much as I enjoy my high-end lights, I was recently thinking about how much light I could put together for less money, a light I wasn't going to beat myself up over if I dropped it, or my son wanted to freak his friends out playing flashlight tag, etc... :eek:oo: I have gotten a few dropins recently, a couple of Nailbenders, and a Titanium Engineering Triple XP-G. Single cell 3 speed SST-50 @ 525 rated lumens, a single cell 3 speed Rebel 120 @ 260 rated lumens, and the Triple 1 speed at 1100 rated lumens.
New host is a Solarforce L2P, I splurged for the HAIII version for $19.99, and the extender for another $4.99. I am impressed with the build quality, the coating is nicely done, as are the knurling and threads. Tailcap allows tailstanding, and nicely protects the reverse clicky from accidental activation. Tailcap from my Oveready 6P works perfectly, for the forward clicky fans.

I've tried to post this with pics and beamshots twice now, going to try again now...

On to the Beamshots! Control, Quark 1x123 R5, Rebel 1x18650, SST-50 1x18650, Triple 2x18650... :) All taken with my P&S camera on night scenery mode, treestump at 34 yards is the target. Measured with Bushnell laser rangefinder. Slight blue haze is from Neighbor's woodstove...

There you go- a nicely made host, and some great dropins... under $100 for host and either Nailbender, under $200 for host and the Triple... Dog walking and flashlight tag will never be the same...

Well done scout24!

I am now thinking along the same lines as you are: most bang for the buck. I have an L2 host, awaiting a Nailbender XP-G drop-in. Probably will get one of his SST-50s as well.

A most excellent review of your setup Zehnmm! I have been pondering getting a solarforce and building mine own model. A somewhat less expensive acquisition till I get funds for another Surefire if you will. After reading the "show your solarforce" thread and your review, I know I will. I wish more posts had the wonderful pictures yours did

Thank you for the pics!
I have just recently fallen into this hobby/obsession :naughty: and just ordered a L2P host and was looking at emitters. With these beam shots I am definitely leaning more towards Nailbenders SST50. Thank you!
