Captain Spaulding
Enlightened
I have been wanting to try an emitter swap for a while and now that the XM-L came out, I may as well do it now with this emitter.
I have a sunwayled m20C first edition with an R2. Of all of my lights, this light is by far the easiest to access the emitter for a swap. Removing the head and then one screw and the emitter practically falls out in your hand. I have one XM-L on a 14mm board and the existing R2 is also on a 14mm board. Drop right in!
The million dollar question for me is... IS it even worth the effort?
I measured only .55A at the tailcap on high. Is this going to even be any brighter with an XM-L?
Or should I just get a host that I can upgrade the drver? I would like to maintain the magnetic control ring.
As you can see from the pics below, it is stupid easy to get to and swap it. Thanks for any suggestions, recommendations, and opinions in advance!
Here are a couple pics showing how easy to get to emmitter.
This is the back of the head. The ONE screw releases the driver;

Emitter pulled out a little for access to the small wires:

What do you guys think? Try it, or look for a different host for my XM-L?
