I just don't understand why some people have all the luck - why the TOP half of the bezel always opens first (it's always the BOTTOM in my case, when I need access to the TOP for the emitter swap), why what should be a straightforward emitter swap to XM-L has to go SO badly, why an excessive and inordinate amount of heat is needed and the glue still sticks anyway.

What should have been a straightforward open-the-top-and-change-the-emitter operation ended like this... and that's not to say I haven't learned from my experiences with a previous KL1. I came prepared with all the heat sources, lighters, Osram 64628 130-watt heat cannon, strap wrenches, vise grips, rubber strips, and what have you - and it still ends like this....

The marks you see are 1mm trenches cut in the aluminium using PLIERS. Shows you how much force I put into it.

Maybe it's time for me to just give up modding :(
