I googled to see if this been done before and did not see any hits, so here it goes.

All credit for the brass stick used here goes to Hogokansatsukan, as this was his original idea for the 17670 tube to use the 18650. Thanks Hogokansatsukan!

The brass stick I bought is a little thicker and was a tight fit. I will probably go back to Ace hardware and buy the thinner one.

Next up for the 120p upgrade to a very special XM-L.

I charged the Ultrafire 18350 to 4.17 volts and then let the battery rest for an hour and started the runtime test at 4.08 volts. The Novatac stayed on high for 38 minutes before stepping down to the next level. The light was sitting in a cup of cool water.

At the end of the test the 18350 battery voltage was a 3.7, I am happy with that. I will probably do this test again soon.

When I get this modded with the XM-L I will rerun this test to see if anything changes

Very cool that it fits. I have never owned a NT/HDS/Ra light for a variety of reasons but I want to. Is there a spring in the tube that normally uses the larger diameter space?

Also how much longer is the 18350 run time vs a 16340 run time?

Yes, the spring usually takes up the extra space.

I have owned an HDS Basic 42 XRGT years ago and I loved that light so I just had to have another like this. I really like this light and have a 17670 battery on the way to mod to use the 18650.

I don't know yet but I will charge up one a test that next along with another run of the 18350, and then do the 18650 until it drops from the maximum setting.
