The largest lantern size rechargeable 6 volt battery I've seen is about 5 Ahr - is there anything with a high amp rating? Thanks.

If you get one of those battery holders that takes 4D and put NiMH cells in it, you can have a 10-12AH lantern battery.

Which D-cell batteries do I need to get to add up to 10-12AH ? Thanks.

Update - if the D-cell NiMH are only 1.2 volts, I'll only get somewhere near 4.8 volts total - I need the full 6 volts. The lantern size battery is 2 5/8" x 2 5/8" x 3 3/4" plus springy contacts on the end.

You can get D NiMH here http://www.batteryjunction.com/dnireba.html
and here http://www.batteryspace.com/dsizeseriesbatteries.aspx

NiMH cell can always be used in place of regular alkalines. Battery holder http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/5275-holder-battery-4-d-lantern-repl-ba4d-s.html
