I bought the Mini 123 first, then the MiniX thinking it would be brighter.
Well, that's not necessarily the case.
The Mini seems to throw longer, has a tighter hot spot, and has a cooler tint.
All of these things I like for outdoor use, which is really what I need to spot skunks and stuff on night time walks.
It still has good side spill, but nothing like the MiniX, which I think is amazing.
I just think the Mini is a better EDC overall.
I assume this was the design parameters of the MiniX.
Or, did I Just get a bum one?
Thanks all,
Lenny

I have both too and I agree with your considerations. For EDC I tend to prefer lights with a wider beam but the tint of MiniX is definitely a bit too much on the warm side for my liking. So it's Mini also for me.

Hi, I will preface this by saying you will void your warranty if you try this as it is NOT recommended by 4sevens. :sssh:

I have the mini-x , and using a RCR123 it is remarkable the change in output from a CR123. Heat will be the biggest issue as it's so tiny there is limited ability to sink the heat, but I find it only gets super hot on high so very short run times recommended.

Don't have the plain mini so can not compare , but wanted to reference my "x" and a RCr123.
