As long as you change the oil at correct intervals and have the correct level it is hard to go wrong between brands. The oils today are far better than they were 20 yrs ago. It did surprise me how hot differentials get the last time I crawled under my truck. I swap my gear oil far more often because I am afraid of water getting in the differential. My engine seems to like Mobil 1 synthetic so I just stick with Mobil one gear oil, seems like the best bang for the buck.

No big surprise, but all this pretty much is, is a big advertisment for Amsoil.
Some good info in there if you can filter out the Amsoil bias.
