Im thinking of doing my first HID build or retrofit.

Im thinking of using a light that uses a car builb like an H4.

I saw a hologen spotlight at Costco with its own internal 12v battery pack, and I plan on using a HID kit form ebay, 35w or 55w....

If the internal battery back of the host light isnt able to handle the HID application, would it be suitable to use some type of LiPo pack. The type seen used for RC planes and helis?

I could use a balanced hoppy charger or charge and they also have high discharge rates.

The origional battery will probably be fine, they usually use 100 watt halogen bulbs so your 35 or 55 watt HID will draw less current giving you more runtime AND be a bit brighter. Most importantly it should throw considerably further with the HID bulb.

Ill give that a try first... Just wondering, if I wanted to make my own custom build, for example a bike light, or a HID retrofit into a smaller host, would a LiPo pack work for powering the HID?

I know the only thing I need to take into consideration is the discharge voltage since there is no protection circut.
